Live scan fingerprints for FOID and Illinois Concealed Carry are captured and transmitted electronically to the Illinois State Police using the ORI and purpose code specified for your firearm application.
While submitting fingerprints for a FOID application is optional, applicants who provide them benefit from more streamlined processing and simplified renewals under current Illinois law and policy.
What to Bring
- ✓A valid government-issued photo ID
- ✓Your ORI and purpose code, if your form lists one — have it available so your results are routed correctly
- ✓If you are unsure about codes, we will review this with you at check-in
Hazmat / TSA
FOID and CCL fingerprinting are distinct from TSA PreCheck, Hazmat endorsements, and TWIC cards, which must be completed through TSA-authorized enrollment providers rather than standard Illinois fingerprint vendors.
If your application lists an ORI and purpose code, enter them here so your results are routed correctly; if you are unsure, we will review this with you at check-in.
